Two years ago, developers DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners and Clarett West began transforming a longtime surface parking lot at 6200 Hollywood Boulevard into a $200-million mixed-use complex.  A retail leasing brochure now offers up a look at renderings of the finished product.

The South Block development, located catacorner to the Pantages Theatre, is the long-awaited phase two of the development originally known as Blvd 6200.  The first half of the project, since rebranded Eastown LA, features four podium-type buildings with 535 rental apartments and 75,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.  Its sequel, located directly across the street, comes in slightly smaller, featuring 507 residential units and approximately 60,000 square feet of commercial space.

Designed by VTBS Architects, the South Block is similar in form and function to Eastown, with an interior courtyard flanked by active commercial uses.  However, it abandons the more monochromatic appearance of its predecessor, with one of the buildings employing a faux-brick facade.

Completion of the project is expected in 2018, at which point it may be followed by propoesed hotel and residential towers immediatly east along Hollywood Boulevard.
