In late September, construction began for a small affordable apartment complex in the unincorporated community of East Rancho Dominguez.

The East Rancho Apartments, located at 4618 East Compton Boulevard, will provide housing for 10 transition-aged youth who are either experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless.  Plans call for two stories of stacked duplex housing, as well as an attached parking garage.  Each duplex unit will feature five single-room occupancy units, with shared bathrooms, kitchens, and a living room.

All residents of the new development will be provided with a "full range of case management, mental health, substance use disorder, education, and employment services to assist toward their goal of independent living," according to a release from Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.

The east Rancho Apartments are being developed by Special Service for Groups, Inc. and Restore Neighborhoods LA, Inc.
