Just north of Metro's Expo/Western Station, the wooden frame of a new affordable housing development is now complete.
The project, which broke ground earlier this year at 3661 S. Western Avenue, will consist of a four-story building featuring 32 apartments set aside for persons making between 30 and 50 percent of the Los Angeles area median income, plus one manager's unit. A total of 16 apartments would be reserved for currently homeless individuals.
Rents in the low-rise structure will range from as low as $488 per month for a one-bedroom dwelling to as high a $1,354 per month for a three-bedroom dwelling.
According to a project website, developer Meta Housing Corp. is planning to incorporate common amenities such as a community room and an outdoor lounge into Metro @Western.
Other members of the project team include Western Community Housing and Ocean Park Community Center.
