Two multifamily residential developments proposed in Chinatown would bring up to 70 apartments to the community on the northern edge of Downtown Los Angeles.

The first of the two projects - which are both owned by the same family - calls for the constructino of a five-story, 37-unit apartment building at 849 N. Bunker Hill Avenue.  The property, currently a vacant lot, would also be improved with two levels of underground parking.

The second development, filed yesterday with the City of Los Angeles, would create a six-story building on an adjacent lot at 708 S. New Depot Street.  A total of 33 apartments are planned within the podium-type building, which would also sit above two levels of subterranean parking.

Both projects are being designed by Labyrinth Design Studio, an architecture firm based out of West Los Angeles.  Renderings of the Bunker Hill building portray a contemporary low-rise structure.
