Local developer Faring has unveiled plans for a new office project in West Hollywood, built around the French Market building at 7985 Santa Monica Boulevard.

BIlled as West Hollywood's first ground-up office development since the Pacific Design Center's Red Building, the project will incorporate the 1936 grocery store as its centerpiece.   The proposed developed would raze a surface parking lot adjacent to the historic building for a four-story structure featuring creative offices above ground-floor restaurant space.

R&A Architecture + Design is designing the project, which would feature setbacks and outdoor terraces along the property's Santa Monica Boulevard frontage.

A statement released by the West Hollywood Hollywood Preservation alliance praises the French Market development for retaining the historic elements of the existing building.
