After years of quiet, a stalled hotel project near the 405 Freeway is returning to the Culver City Planning Commission for an update.

In 2021, Culver City officials signed off on plans from Sandstone Properties to redevelop a shopping center at 11469 Jefferson Boulevard as a hotel dubbed "The Jeff." Plans had called for the construction of a five-story building featuring 175 guest rooms above restaurant space and a two-level, 138-car subterranean parking garage.

A new plan, now put forth by Irvine-based development firm Greens, trims the offerings of the proposed hotel, dropping the total number of proposed guest rooms to 147, and removing plans for a rooftop bar and meeting space. Plans still call for a restaurant, a coffee shop, a fitness center, and parking for 106 vehicles.

New design work comes from architect Robert F. Tuttle, according to plans included with the filing. A rendering depicts a contemporary low-rise structure with a central courtyard.

According to a construction management plan included with the Planning Commission presentation, the hotel would take approximately one-and-a-half years to complete.
