Earlier this year, West Los Angeles-based Symphony Development received approvals for the construction of a mixed-use building featuring student apartments near the Cal State Northridge campus.
The proposed four-story building, slated for a 1.5-acre site at 9530-9546 N. Reseda Boulevard, calls for replacing a post office and adjoining parking lot with 128 units of student housing above roughly 5,700 square feet of ground-floor commercial uses and basement parking for 240 vehicles.
Steinberg Hart is designing the U-shaped building, which would incorporate open space amenities such as a paseo, a rooftop deck, fitness rooms, and a courtyard-level swimming pool.
A timeline for the project has not been announced.
Several other mixed-use buildings are planned on and around the CSUN campus, including a 150-room Hyatt Place hotel and a five-story, 146-unit apartment building on Nordhoff Street. All of these projects would be located in close proximity to a new east-west bus rapid transit line that Metro plans to run along the southern edge of CSUN.
