New housing is planned for a site just south of Fountain Avenue, per a recent presentation to the West Hollywood Planning Commission's Design Review Subcommittee.
The project from property owner Dariush Lamy, slated for a site at 1280 N. Sweetzer Avenue, calls for the construction of a four-story building with nine homes and an 11-car garage on what is now a vacant lot.
Lamy would provide one unit of on-site affordable housing, according to a staff report.
The proposed design features a four-story stacked apartment building expressed through a contemporary architectural vocabulary characterized by rectilinear forms, varied massing, and layered façade articulation," reads the report, describing design work by Mobius Arch, Inc. "The articulated façades incorporate a combination of recessed and projecting volumes, cantilevered balconies, and contrasting material treatments that create variation in plane and surface depth."
The project site is located northeast across the street from a similar housing complex recently developed at 1257 N. Sweetzer Avenue.
