In North Hollywood, the former site of a commercial building just east of Lankershim Boulevard has birthed a new apartment complex.
The project, now topped out at 5755 Tujunga Avenue, consists of a six-story edifice that will feature 33 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments above partially subterranean parking for 40 vehicles.
Elevado Group, the developer behind the apartment complex, entitled the property for development by employing the Transit Oriented Communities guidelines to permit a building that is larger than allowed under local zoning rules. In exchange for incentives regarding floor area and height, four of the new apartments will be set aside as affordable housing.
Ken Stockton Architects designed 5755 Tujunga, which is depicted in architectural plans included with an entitlement submission as a boxy podium-type building with geometric protrusions. Common amenities will include a business center, a recreation room, and a rooftop deck.
According to a landing page on the Elevado Group website, construction of 5755 Tujunga began in Summer 2020 and is on pace for completion in early 2022.
Elevado Group's portfolio includes several mixed-use projects in the San Fernando Valley, including a larger development slated for the former site of the Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio.
