The Los Angeles Department of City Planning has signed off on developer RBM of California's plan for a mixed-use complex in Palms, allowing the project to move forward with building permits.

Slated for a property at 3568 Motor Avenue, the proposed development calls for the construction of a six-story building featuring 42 apartments and approximately 1,800 square feet of street-fronting commercial space.  The project will provide four units of on-site affordable housing, allowing relief from certain provisions of the zoning code.

DE Architects is designing the contemporary podium-type development, which features exterior balconies accented by wood panels.  Plans also call for a amenities such as a fitness room, a courtyard swimming pool, a roof deck and a 50-car garage.

The apartments, all of which will be one-bedroom units, will come with walk-in closets and washer-dryer sets.

Another mixed-use building is currently under construction on Overland Avenue, and similar developments have been completed in recent years to the north along Motor.

RBM is also behind an ongoing residential project on Pico Boulevard.
