On the east side of Santa Ana, developer AMG & Associates is in the midst of construction at two large complexes consisting of family and senior affordable housing.
The first, located which replaces a motel at 2222 E. 1st Street, will consist of an L-shaped six-story structure containing 419 apartments for seniors. Plans also call for a 213-car garage and roughly 20,000 square feet of open space.
The second development, now rising a short distance west at 2020-2110 E. 1st Street, will consist of another six-story edifice containing 552 apartments atop 10,000 square feet of retail and 620 parking stalls. Plans call for a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom units, reserved for low-income families.
The project, called First Point, will offer a shuttle service for residents connecting to Downtown Santa Ana and the city's commuter rail station.
AO is designing both of the podium-type developments, which will incorporate on-site amenities and exteriors of stucco, tile and fiber cement boards.
