The City of Pasadena has given final design approval for the MW Lofts, a proposed mixed-use development on Walnut Street, according to a representative of Tyler Gonzales Architects.
The project, which would replace a collection of small office buildings at the corner of Walnut and El Molino Avenue, calls for the construction of a six-story edifice containing 115 residential units above 14,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
TGA is designing the project to LEED Silver Standards. Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2019, following the Rose Parade.
The firm is working on a similar project a block east that will feature 42 apartments above ground-floor retail.
Pasadena-based real estate investment firm Prominent Development is building the MW Lofts, and purchased the project site for $11 million in 2016.
The MW Lofts will rise directly across the street from the Hudson apartments, one of a handful of rental projects that Greystar Real Estate Partners has recently built on Walnut Street.
