Thanks to a $1-million grant through the MyFigueroa Project, which finally broke ground in late 2016, the South Park Business Improvement District is implementing pedestrian improvements around Metro's Pico Station.

The at-grade light rail station, located on Flower Street, will receive a series of upgrades that includes enhanced lighting and landscaping, as well as a safer and more "visually compelling" fence.  The project also calls for better branding and wayfinding for the surrounding neighborhood.

These improvements lay the groundwork for a much more ambitious changes now making their way through the planning process.  A motion submitted last month to the Metro Board of Directors calls for the agency to explore grade separation for Pico Station and the street-running tracks that carry both the Expo and Blue Lines.
