An abandoned building in South Los Angeles could be replaced by a new permanent supportive housing development, according to a development application filed earlier today with the Department of City Planning.

The project site, which spans two parcels at 4604-4612 S. Western Avenue, is currently improved with a surface parking lot and a fire-damaged apartment building that has been the subject of numerous citations since 2006.  Plans call for razing these usees to make way for the construction of a five-story edifice that would feature 49 units of affordable housing with permanent supportive services.

The case filing makes use of the Transit Oriented Communities guidelines, with requests for additional height, relief from transitional height requirements, and no on-site parking.

A case filing lists the project applicant as an entity called 4604-4612 S Western, LLC, which is based out of the same Hermosa Beach address as the real estate appraisal company Roth & Associates.

The developer is currently seeking permits to demolish the existing building.
