Eight cranes now tower above Westwood, as UCLA moves forward with the construction of three student housing projects with a combined budget of more than $870 million.

At 10995 LeConte Avenue, the concrete frame of a 17-story tower is now rising at the former site of a UCLA Extension office building.

The nearly $210-million project will provide 1,167 beds for upper-division undergraduate students.

Completion is expected in December 2021.

A block west at 900 Weyburn Place, concrete and rebar pillars now protrude above ground as construction continues for the Southwest Campus Apartments.

The approximately $383-million project will consist of three buildings ranging from eight to ten stories in height.  Plans call for 2,279 beds for upper-division undergraduate students and graduate students, as well as meeting rooms, multi-purpose rooms, and laundry facilities.

Completion is now on pace to occur in September 2022.

At the northwest corner of the UCLA Campus, construction is also underway for the Lot 15 Residence Hall - named for the parking lot which it replaced.

Plans call for a pair of eight-story structures, designed by Mithun, which will offer 1,781 beds for first- and second-year undergraduate students in addition to amenities.

Completion of the $237-million project is anticipated in November 2021.

One component of UCLA's new housing master plan is already complete - the Levering Place apartments at 885 Levering Avenue.  The 10-story structure includes 42 apartments with 216 student beds.

Future phases could include the construction of new buildings adjacent to Bradley International Hall and Drake Stadium that could add up to 1,400 student beds.

The new dormitories will are expected to be used as the Athlete's Village when the Summer Olympics return to Los Angeles in 2028.

In addition to student housing, UCLA is also planning new apartments for its faculty.  The university is now laying the groundwork for the construction of a seven-story, 100-unit building at the intersection of Hilgard Avenue and Lindbrook Drive.
