Three months after officially breaking ground at 7th and Wall Streets, the rebar framework of Skid Row Housing Trust's 649 Lofts is now rising above ground level.
The $27-million project calls for the construction of a seven-story building that twill feature 47 studio apartments catering to formerly homeless and other at-risk individuals. its ground floor will be occupied by 25,000 square feet of clinic space for Los Angeles Christian Health Centers, in addition to a 25-car parking garage.
SRHT plans to offer rents between $473 and $788 per month, with units reserved for persons making between 30 and 50 percent of the Los Angeles area median income.
Completion of the 649 Lofts, which was designed by architects at Abode Communities, is anticipated in late 2019.
SRHT is also planning a similar affordable development featuring up to 100 residential units directly across Wall Street.
South across 7th Street, two mixed-use high-rise developments are also in the planning stages.
