After four years of quiet, plans for a new hotel in Pico-Union have cleared a key milestone, securing the approval of the Los Angeles City Planning Commission.
The proposed development, slated for the site of a shuttered grocery store at 2250-2270 W. Pico Boulevard, calls for the construction of a pair of six-story buildings containing 125 hotel rooms above a three-level, 84-car basement garage. In addition, the hotel would include amenities and common areas for guests, including a lobby and a small dining area.
City records list the project applicant as Da Yuh Development, Inc.
Rosemead-based architecture firm JWDA-MS is designing the hotel, which would sit on two sides of an alley way which cuts through the project site.
Requested entitlements for the project include a general plan amendment and a zone change, both of which were initiated in 2017 via a motion introduced by formerly Los Angeles City Councilmember Gil Cedillo. Final approval will require a vote by the City Council.
