Empty land next door to Kaiser Permanente's Baldwin Park hospital is set to be transformed into a public park, per a new environmental study.

The Roadside Park Project, located at 1081 Leorita Street, involves two properties located just south of the I-10 Freeway. Combined, they account for approximately 0.80 acres of land area.

The city-led project would transform the two unimproved sites with features include: a nature-based playground; shade structures; outdoor fitness equipment; picnic areas; landscaping, a walking path, lighting, benches and tables; and an open green space. Below ground, plans also call for stormwater capture infrastructure to recharge the groundwater table.

Proposed plan for Roadside ParkDVD Creative

DVD Creative is designing the park, per plans included with the study.

The Roadside Park is being funded with a $2.1-million grant from the National Park Service, reports Streetsblog.
