Abode Communities has unveiled a rendering for the Grandview Apartments, a proposed affordable development just south of MacArthur Park.
The project, slated for six parcels at 714-760 S. Grand View Street, calls for replacing 36 existing rent-stabilized apartments with a five-story building containing 100 residential units. Plans also call for on-site amenities - including social services programming through Abode and St. Joseph Center.
“We are deeply sensitive to the fact that existing residents will be impacted by the development process,” said Abode Communities President & CEO Robin Hughes. “[We] are committed to working with these tenants, who will be offered both a comprehensive relocation package, as well as the first right to return, at a rent they can afford,” she continued.
The $64-million Grandview Apartments are being financed through a combination of state and local funds. Located 500 feet from the Westlake/MacArthur Park subway station, it is also the first project in the City of Los Angeles to received funding from the Metro Affordable Housing Transit Connected Housing program in the form of an $8.25-million acquisition loan.
Construction of the Grandview Apartments is expected to begin in fall 2020 and conclude by summer 2022.
