Eight months after our last update, work has come to a close at 6527 S. Crenshaw Boulevard in Hyde Park, site of a mixed-use affordable housing complex from co-developers GTM Holdings and WORKS.
The new five-story building, which replaced a smaller market-rate apartment complex, features a total of 43 residential units above 1,500 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a 22-car parking garage. The apartments will also be accompanied by on-site supportive services and open space for residents.
Lahmon Architects is designing the apartment complex, which closely resembles renderings produced prior to the start of construction.
The more than $29-million project will cater to survivors of domestic violence.
The project joins two similar supportive housing developments build recently in the Hyde Park neighborhood, with proximity to new K Line stations at Slauson and Florence Avenues. A short walk north, the $40-million Hope on Hyde Park apartments are wrapping up work at 6501 S. Crenshaw Boulevard. A few blocks to the west, A Community of Friends broke has built a similar 64-unit housing complex at 6604 S. West Boulevard.
