Five years after demolishing a small commercial building at 1523 N. Wilcox Avenue in Hollywood, Relevant Group has completed construction of its new Thompson Hotel.

The 11-story building, operated by Hyatt Hotels Corporation, features 190 guest rooms - including 16 suites - as well as a new restaurant by chef Lincoln Carson and Bar Lis, a rooftop lounge with a swimming pool.

Steinberg Hart led the design team for the roughly 115-foot-tall concrete-frame building, which also included RCVA and interior design firm Tara Bernerd & Partners.  The building's design is described as drawing from the West Coast Modernist movement, incorporating timber, custom terrazzo, onyx, and other finishes.

“Every touchpoint of the Thompson Hollywood experience has been concepted for the discerning traveler, particularly as pent-up travel demand has tourists and locals seeking memorable moments,” said the hotel's managing director Bruno Vergeynst in a news release.  “Whether it’s the thoughtfully designed lobby and guestrooms by Tara Bernerd & Partners, chef Carson’s sophisticated dining concepts, the Bar Lis rooftop lounge or our intuitive guest programming, Thompson Hollywood invites guests to embrace a breezy Angeleno lifestyle.”

The Thompson Hollywood, which commands nightly rates starting at $399, is one of a handful of Thompson hotels scheduled to debut in 2021, including new projects in Denver, Atlanta, and Austin.

Relevant Group, the owner and developer of the property, is also wrapping up work on a Tommie Hotel a short distance north on Selma Avenue, and has received approval for the construction an eight-story hotel at the corner of Selma and Wilcox Avenues.
