Clifford Beers Housing has completed construction for King 1101 Apartments, a supportive housing community in Exposition Park.

The King 1101 development, named for its location at 1101 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, transformed a vacant lot into a 26-unit apartment community. A mix of studio, one- and three-bedroom apartments are reserved for chronically homeless families and homeless veterans. The rental rates are less than 30%-50% of the area median income, ranging from $435 to $1,079 per month. CBH and The People Concern will provide on-site supportive services for residents. 

LOHA designed the four-story building, which has an L-shaped layout to provide sunlight and cross ventilation to every apartment. LINK Landscape Architecture, SY Lee & Associates, and John Labib & Associates were also part of the project team. 

The $16-million project features a green roof, solar water heating, a community kitchen, community garden, bike parking and electric vehicle charging stations. The ground floor will be activated with a small street-facing retail space. The project is pursuing LEED Gold certification. 

King 1101 Apartments will celebrate its grand opening on January 18, 2019.
