Across the street from Magic Johnson Park in Willowbrook, construction is complete for the Hope on Avalon permanent supportive housing complex.
The project from Hope Street Development Group - a joint venture partnership between Aedis Real Estate Group and LSA Capital - is a modular structure which features 89 homes, ranging from 320 to 480 square feet in size, which serve as both permanent supportive housing and traditional affordable housing. Parking for 12 vehicles is also located at street level, and amenities and supportive services are provided within.
The apartments, which come in a mix of studio and one- bedroom layouts, are restricted to households earning at or below 50 and 60 percent of the area median income level.
KTGY is designing Hope on Avalon, its fourth modular project with Hope Street Development Group following similar supportive housing complexes on Broadway and Crenshaw Boulevard in South Los Angeles, as well as on Alvarado Street in Westlake.
Magic Johnson park, located opposite Avalon Boulevard, recently underwent a $83-million renovation which added a new community event center, trails, a children's play areas, and upgraded landscaping.
