Texas-based developer American Campus Communities is putting the finishing touches on a new housing complex for graduate students at the USC Health Sciences Campus.

The six-story building, billed as the second phase of the neighboring Currie Hall student apartments, is located at 1630 N. San Pablo Street. The podium-type structure includes 95 four-bedroom suites, offering housing for up to 272 residents, with approximately 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

KTGY Architecture + Planning is designing stucco-clad building, which has an exterior of red and brown.  In addition to housing, the low-rise structure includes lounges, a central courtyard, and a rooftop amenity

The new construction at 1630 San Pablo, combined with Currie Hall, wrap around a 200-room Hyatt House hotel now under construction at 1550 N. San Pablo Street.

Other projects now taking shape the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center campus include a new Restorative Care Village, which will provide medical services and inpatient care to the area's unhoused population.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is also pursuing the adaptive reuse of the historic General Hospital Building, and recently voted to pursue up to $500 million in state funding for the project.
