Trammell Crow Residential is on pace to begin construction next year on a large multifamily residential building near the Gold Line, according to a draft environmental impact report published by the City of Monrovia.

The Alexan Monrovia development, slated for a 6.77-acre site at 1625 N. Magnolia Avenue, calls for the construction of a five-story, 436-unit apartment complex accompanied by an eight-level, 798-car parking structure.  The rental housing would come in an array of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans.

Designed by AO, the building the project would incorporate nearly 80,000 square feet of open space, much of which would be located at-grade along the perimeter of the site.  Proposed amenities include a fitness center, a golf simulator, a resident lounge, and multiple courtyards.

According to the environmental study, construction of the Alexan Monrovia is expected to occur over 30 months, starting as early as 2020 and concluding as soon as 2022.

Before that can occur, however, the project must receive the approval of the Monrovia City Council.  A hearing is expected to occur on December 3.

The Alexan Monrovia is one of a handful of large mixed-use and multifamily residential buildings planned adjacent to the Gold Line's Monrovia Station.  Other projects are proposed by Century West PartnersMW Investment Group, and the Richman Group.
