This week, Los Angeles-based developer KOAR will present plans for the latest addition to Hollywood's burgeoning hotel district to the Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council's Planning and Land Use Management Committee.
The proposed development, slated for a parking lot at 1600 N. Schrader Boulevard, calls for the construction of an 11-story building that would feature 198 guest rooms, approximately 5,500 square feet of restaurant space, a roof terrace and three levels of underground parking. An existing 12-unit apartment building on the subject property would be retained and renovated through the project.
Designed by Lake Flato Architects, the Schrader Hotel would rise to a maximum height of 125 feet, featuring exterior finishes such as brick and metal panels. Open space is provided both at the roof level through a rooftop pool and amenity deck, as well as at an entrance courtyard fronting Selma Avenue.
KOAR's project is located amongst a growing collection of boutique hotels between Sunset and Hollywood Boulevards, most of which come from fellow Los Angeles developer Relevant Group, In addition to the Dream Hollywood and Mama Shelter - both of which opened within the past two years - a new Thompson Hotel is under construction on Wilcox Avenue, and a Tommie Hotel is proposed on Selma Avenue.
