Materials presented to Crenshaw Corridor Design Review Board provide a first glimpse of a proposed mixed-use development in Hyde Park.
The proposed development, submitted to the City of Los Angeles in August, calls for replacing an auto repair garage at 3475 W. Slauson Avenue with a five-story building containing 63 apartments above 854 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a 27-car garage.
Aero Collective is designing the podium-type building, which would contain a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings - with seven set aside as deed-restricted affordable housing. Plans show that a second-floor amenity deck and tiered building heights would be used to provide a transition to the scale of an abutting residential neighborhood to the north.
City records list the owner and applicant behind the proposed apartment complex as Westwood-based entity Elan & Ayla QOZB, LLC.
The project is the latest in a series of market-rate and affordable housing developments planned near the Crenshaw/LAX Line's Hyde Park Station, including a controversial proposal which calls for razing the Dorset Village garden apartment complex.
