Last month, developers Holos Communities and Flyaway Homes were awarded more than $25 million in state funds for the construction of two affordable and supportive housing projects in the Wilmington neighborhood. New information released by Holos now offers a closer look at both projects.
Wilmington 1, slated to replace a parking lot at 728 N. Lagoon Avenue, calls for the construction of a new four-story building featuring 39 two-bedroom apartments and one two-bedroom manager's unit.
The apartment complex, which would be composed of prefabricated modular units, is also expected to include courtyards, a community room, and offices for on-site supportive services. A rendering depicts a contemporary low-rise structure with metal cladding.
Construction of the Lagoon project is expected to begin this year and conclude by 2025, according to a project website. The total per-unit cost of the complex is estimated at $553,000.
Wilmington 2, which would replace another parking lot at 828 Anaheim Street, would be a second prefabricated modular building featuring 50 two-bedroom apartments - one of which would be set aside for an on-site manager.
Plans call for a series of interconnecting five-story structures, tied together through exterior catwalks. Amenities would include parking, laundry facilities, and a community room.
Construction of the Anaheim Street development is also expected to commence this year and conclude in 2025. The total per-unit cost is just over $569,000.
