At a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 22, developer Thomas Safran & Associates (TSA) marked the completion of a new senior affordable apartment complex located just north of Sherman Way in Reseda.

The Reseda Theatre Senior Housing, named for the neighboring movie venue which is also part of a restoration effort, is located on a previously vacant site at 7219-7227 N. Canby Avenue. The project consists of a four-story building featuring 26 one- and two-bedroom apartments with a small tuck-under parking area. Of the total 26 apartments, half are dedicated as permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless seniors, with PATH providing on-site services for those residents.

William Hezmalhalch Architects is designing the project, which has a Spanish Colonial Revival exterior. Besides housing, the complex includes a resident garden with landscaping, an outdoor barbeque area, a community room, and laundry facilities.

Other firms which worked on the project include contractor Lena Construction, Wendy Weiner Interior Design, and landscape architect Segal Shuart. R4 Capital provided financing for the apartment complex.
