Newport Beach-based construction and development firm R.D. Olson has broken ground on a new hotel in Downtown Glendale.
The project, which will operate as a Marriott Residence Inn, will consist of a six-story structure with 147 guest rooms, ground-floor restaurant space, and a conference center. The podium-type building replaces an approximately 30,000-square-foot parking lot at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Louise Street.
Architecture firm WATG designed the hotel in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, with a mix of open space amenities that includes a pool deck and a paseo.
A timeline for the project has not been announced.
Elsewhere in Downtown Glendale, an 11-story Hyatt Place hotel is set to open by the end of this month at the corner of Central and Wilson Avenues.
R.D. Olson is also building a dual-branded Marriott hotel in Marina del Rey that also includes as Residence Inn.
