New housing is coming to a property located just east of the US-110 Freeway in Carson, per an item recently approved by the City's Planning Commission.
The project from Maupin Development, slated for a site at 438 W. Carson Street, would redevelop surface parking and an otherwise vacant site with a new four-story building featuring 51 one and two-bedroom dwellings. Parking would be located toward the rear of the site, away from Carson Street.
As a condition of approval, five of the proposed homes would be deed-restricted as affordable housing.
Plans depict a contemporary low-rise structure, clad in stucco, with amenities including a lounge, a fitness center, and a rooftop deck. The building would have an L-shaped footprint to wrap around an adjacent property which is developed with a bank.
The project site is located a short walk east from the Veterans Village of Carson, an affordable housing development which was completed in 2022.
