A half-year after we last checked in, the wood-and-concrete frame of a mixed-use development is now complete at "The Streets" in Downtown Long Beach.

The project, which sits at the southwest corner or 5th Street and Promenade North, consists of a four-story building which will feature 20 apartments atop approximately 3,600 square feet of ground-floor retail space and parking for 30 vehicles.

Urban Architecture Lab designed the podium-type building, which will eventually have an exterior of white and red.  Outdoor seating is intended to flank the street-level retail space along the project's 5th Street frontage, and a small courtyard is planned immediately west of the building.

Completion is now on pace to occur in the second half of 2020, a delay from the Spring 2020 completion date originally forecasted for the project.

The Long Beach Business Journal reports that Shooshani Development has named the project 5Nº at The Streets.  It was previously known as "The Place at the Streets."

A few blocks south on the Promenade, a mixed-use building called Inkwell is slated to create 189 apartments and retail space on a property that now serves as a surface parking lot.
