A residential-retail complex is set to replace a pair of small commercial buildings in Mar Vista, according to the agenda of last week's meeting of the Mar Vista Community Council's Planning and Land Use Management Committee.
The proposed development, slated for a half-acre site at 11671-11677 W. National Boulevard, would consist of a four-story building featuring 48 residential units, office and retail space atop a two-level underground parking garage. City records link the project to property owner Mario Garonzi, and the construction firm Frymer.
The MVCC is considering opposing the project, due to a lack of outreach to the surrounding community.
Demolition of the existing buildings could begin as early as December.
The project site abuts Colonial Corners, a set of commercial buildings at National and Barrington Avenue designed in the American Colonial Revival Style. All were constructed between 1948 and 1962, according to City records.
