A year-and-a-half after breaking ground, a mixed-use project from A.J. Khair Development & Construction is nearing its peak in Hollywood.

The project, located at 6630 Sunset Boulevard, consists of a six-story building featuring 35 studio and one-bedroom apartments atop a 49-car garage and ground-floor retail space.

The podium-type building, designed by Ken Stockton Architects, incorporates the facade of a Streamline Moderne office building at 6634 Sunset Boulevard.  The single-story structure dates to the late 1920s.

The property is located across the street from the iconic Crossroads of the World, where Harridge Development Group has obtained approvals to construct a 1.4-million-square-foot high-rise complex featuring up to 950 residential unit, a 308-room hotel, and 190,000 square feet of commercial space.  A block north, Bond Companies has filed plans to redevelop a surface parking lot on Cassil Avenue with an eight-story, 200-unit apartment building.

Other projects from A.J. Khair include a five-story, 60-unit apartment complex now under construction in Silver Lake.
