In West Hollywood, construction is now in progress for a mixed-use development at the intersection of Fairfax Avenue and Romaine Street.

The project, called the Empire at Fairfax, will consist of a five-story building featuring 34 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments - including five affordable units - above ground-floor commercial space and basement parking.

Levin-Morris Architects is designing the contemporary podium-type development, which will include amenities such as a fitness center, a swimming pool, and a rooftop deck.  A south-facing courtyard will allow for natural lighting and cross ventilation into the building's interior.

Construction is anticipated to be completed in Summer 2021.

The Empire at Fairfax is the first mixed-use development from Los Angeles-based Empire Property Group, which has previously built multifamily housing projects in West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Bel-Air.

One block north of the project site, West Hollywood-based developer Faring is planning office and hotel projects for two properties located on Santa Monica Boulevard.
