Earlier this year, Camden Property Trust revived its plan to construct a mixed-use complex at the corner in the Arts District.
The proposed development, first announced in 2014, is slated for a 2.59-acre site at the corner of Industrial and Alameda Streets. Camden would raze the existing buildings on the property to allow for the construction of a seven-story, 336,000-square-foot structure that would contain 344 live/work apartments, nearly 25,000 square feet of creative office space, approximately 4,000 square feet of ground-floor restaurant space. Other components of the project would include aunderground parking for 536 vehicles, as well as pen space amenities such as courtyards, terraces, a fitness center and a dog run.
Local architecture firm LOHA has been commissioned to design the residential-retail complex, which would have a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom dwellings. The exterior of the building would be primarily clad with brick veneer, bronze colored metal panels and gray stucco. Plans also call for a mural and a green wall to wrap portions of the development.
The Los Angeles City Planning Commission will consider the project, dubbed Industrial, at its upcoming meeting on August 10. A staff report has recommended approval for Camden's development, which is surrounded by similar projects such as 6AM and 668 Alameda.
