The adaptive reuse of the Historic Core's Banco Popular Building forges ahead, with a new amenity deck taking shape atop the early 20th century building's roof.

The 10-story structure at 4th and Spring Streets, also known as the HW Hellman Building, is being converted by Standard Development into 188 apartments with 17,500 square feet of retail space at its ground and basement levels.

Amenities such as a fitness center and a small swimming pool will be situated within the two-story, steel-frame structure now taking form on the building's rooftop.

Downtown-based architecture firm Omgivnining is designing the project.
