After years of waiting and revisions that roughly halved its footprint, the Culver Public Market project is on track to begin work in mid-2025.

Last week, the Culver City Council voted unanimously to approve an amended development agreement with Regency Centers for the project, which would rise from now-vacant sites at the northwest and northeast corners of Washington Boulevard and Centinela Avenue. After the removal of a planned market hall, plans now call for a cumulative revised plans unveiled earlier this year call for more than 13,000 square feet of foot retail and restaurant space, as well as 9,600 square feet of outdoor dining areas and plazas. A two-story, 122-car public parking garage is also planned.

The smaller design retains the same materials as the prior iteration of the project, which was described as having a "simple, rustic aesthetic," that complements surrounding properties.

Construction of the $23.8-million development could commence as early as Summer 2025, and would occur over approximately two years. That could mean a completion date in late 2026 or early 2027.

Culver City and its Redevelopment Successor Agency have committed $17 million to the project thus far, which is expected to generate $159,800 in annual tax revenue and create 101 permanent jobs.
