Today, L.A. County Community Development Commission held an official groundbreaking for Athens Vistas, a senior affordable housing complex in unincorporated West Athens.
The project, slated for a vacant lot at 1248-1314 W. 105th Street, calls for the constructoin of a three-story building featuring 73 residential units catering to homeless and low income seniors. Plans call for a mixture of studio and one-bedroom apartments, priced between $488 and $651 per month. Targeted residents will make between 30 and 50 percent of the area median income.
Budgeted at approximately $26 million, Athens Vistas is a joint venture between Veloce Partners Inc. and Los Angeles County Housing Development Corp.
The Salvation Army and Alta-Med are also partnering on the project, funding an on-site service coordinator to provide case manaement services, mental health counseling, substance abuse counseling and other support.
