In Cudahy, a September 24 groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of construction for a new affordable housing complex from National CORE.
The Amanda Villas, which is partially funded by Los Angeles County, will rise from a site located at 4610 Santa Ana Street. The project, which is being developed by National CORE in partnership with Prima Development, calls for the construction of a five-story building featuring 140 one- and two-bedroom dwellings for seniors. A health center providing medical, dental and behavioral health services to Amanda Villas residents and neighbors is planned on the ground floor.
According to a landing page on the National CORE website, the apartments are to be rented to households earning between 30 and 50 percent of the area median income level. On-site supportive services will be provided by the Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
A rendering depicts the building as a contemporary podium-type structure with a rooftop terrace and a central courtyard.
Completion is expected in Winter 2027.
