At its meeting earlier this week, the Echo Park Neighborhood Council's Planning and Land Use Committee took a first look at plans for a senior affordable housing development just north of Sunset Boulevard.

The project, which would replace a surface parking lot at 1615 Montana Street, calls for the construction of a building that would feature 64 units of permanent supportive housing for seniors.  The proposed development would consist entirely of studio and one-bedroom units.

An information sheet submitted to the neighborhood council lists the project's developer as Domus Development, an affiliate of Newport Partners, an Irvine-based developer of low-income housing communities.

Domus has yet to file an entitlement application for the project with the City of Los Angeles.
