Non-profit developer Mercy Housing has filed an application with the Los Angeles Planning Department to construct senior affordable housing in the Sherman Oaks.

The proposed development, which would replace a 1940s triplex at 14534 Burbank Boulevard, calls for the construction of a four-story building featuring 55 dwelling units reserved for low- and very low-income seniors.

Mercy Housing is requesting several entitlements for the project, including increases in allowable floor area and height, and decreases in required open space and side yards.

Additional details regarding the project are not clear based on its case filing.

In 2017, a different developer had obtained entitlements to construct a four-story, 60-room eldercare facility on the same property, but did not ultimately move forward with the project.

Mercy Housing is currently building a similar senior affordable development in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood.
