At its meeting today, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is poised to approve a $3-million loan to aid in the development of a new senior affordable housing complex in Sun Valley.
Non-profit developer A Community of Friends filed plans last year with the City of Los Angeles to construct Casa del Sol, a four-story building with 44 apartments at 10966 W. Ratner Street. The proposed low-rise edifice would feature seven units set aside for very-low-income households and 36 units at the low-income level, according to a case filing from the Los Angeles Planning Department.
A rendering of the project provided by the United Way portrays a contemporary design, with two four-story masses rising around a central courtyard.
The $3-million loan would come from the County's Mental Health Housing Funds, would contribute towards the total estimated project cost of $19 million. ACOF has also pursued Measure HHH money for Casa del Sol.
ACOF is also behind the proposed Lorena Plaza development in Boyle Heights, which received the approval of the Los Angeles City Council following a prolonged delay.
