Six months after beginning construction in Hyde Park, the framework of The Curve @ West Angeles is now taking shape.

The $24-million senior affordable housing development, located at 5414 Crenshaw Boulevard, is being developed by Related California and West Angeles Community Development Corporation.  The five-story structure will feature 70 studio and one-bedroom apartments atop 2,000 square feet of street-fronting commercial space.  Plans also call for common amenities such including a linear courtyard, a recreation room, and a laundry facility.

Rents in at The Curve will be set between $473 and $1,014 per month, with apartments reserved for seniors making between 30 and 60 percent of the Los Angeles area median income.

KFA Architecture designed The Curve, which derives its look from nearby Art Deco buildings that line the Crenshaw Corridor.

Completion of construction is anticipated in 2019.

The coming of the Crenshaw/LAX light rail line has also brought several proposals for affordable housing developments to the Hyde Park community, including a 90-unit building at 6501 Crenshaw Boulevard and a 43-unit project at 6527 Crenshaw Boulevard.
