Sares-Regis Group is continuing with construction for a mixed-use development at the corner of 1st Street and Alamitos Avenue in Long Beach.

The project, dubbed the Alamitos, will consist of a seven-story building featuring 136 apartments above 2,500 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a subterranean parking structure.  Plans call for a mixture of studio, one- and two-bedroom units, which will range between 660 square feet and 1,620 square feet in size.

Studio One Eleven is designing the contemporary mid-rise building, which is expected to open in early 2019.

A similar development is proposed two blocks north at 3rd Street and Alamitos, while a 35-story tower is expected to break ground early next year just south at Ocean Boulevard.
