A block west of the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Western Avenue, Koreatown's busiest developer has kicked off work on yet another multifamily residential complex.
In February, Jamison Services, Inc. secured construction permits for a mixed-use project located at 988 S. Manhattan Place. The project, submitted to the City of Los Angeles for review in March 2020, calls for the construction of a seven-story edifice featuring 118 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above nearly 6,200 square feet of ground-floor retail space and parking for 77 vehicles.
Approved plans rely on Transit Oriented Communities incentives to achieve increased height and reductions to required side-yard setbacks relative to zoning regulations for the property. In exchange, Jamison will be required to set aside 12 of the new apartments for rent by extremely low-income households.
MVE + Partners is designing the apartment complex, which is depicted in renderings as a contemporary podium-type building. The building will have a U-shaped footprint above its second floor, with amenity decks placed at the podium and roof levels.
Jamison, which is planning dozens of projects in Koreatown and other neighborhoods in Central Los Angeles, recently broke ground on a high-rise complex across the street from the Wilshire/Normandie subway station.
