Earth movers are on-site at a long-vacant lot in Westmont, where Abode Communities is starting work on a $21.6-million affordable housing development.
The Westmont Vistas, slated for a .85-acre site at 1763 W. Imperial Highway, will consist of a four-story building featuring 39 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, in addition to amenities such as a central courtyard, a resident center, and a tot lot.
According to a staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, the project will cater to formerly homeless persons earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income, with rents set between $507 and $703 per month.
A timeline for the project has not been announced.
Elsewhere in Los Angeles, Abode Communities is wrapping up construction at the Rolland Curtis Gardens apartments just west of USC.
