FPG Development Group of Florida broke ground earlier this year on a new hotel at the corner of Variel Avenue and Oxnard Street in Warner Center. 

The project - which replaces an office building - calls for the construction of a six-story edifice featuring 174 hotel rooms, ground-floor retail space, and basement parking for 136 vehicles.  Ancillary features will include a gym, a swimming pool, and meeting space.  

DLR Group is designing the hotel, which will operate as a Home2Suites by Hilton upon completion.  

A handful of other large developments are now under construction nearby in Warner Center, including a $75-million apartment complex one block north on Variel.
