Just over one year after clearing the Los Angeles City Council, construction is in progress for a new multifamily residential development just south of Olympic Boulevard in Pico-Union.
The project, now taking shape at 1047-1053 S. Fedora Street, will consist of a six-story edifice featuring 50 apartments - including five extremely low-income affordable units - above parking for 23 vehicles.
Designed by Ferrier Architecture Studio the apartment complex will be a podium-type structure with a paseo above its second floor and a rooftop garden. Plans call for an exterior of black and red stucco, with an exposed staircase facing Fedora Street.
City records list the project applicant as local physician Joe Englanoff.
The project site sits one block east of Mariposa Avenue, where construction is also underway for an affordable and permanent supportive housing complex from West Hollywood Community Housing Corp.
