In Koreatown, the finish line is in sight for a new multifamily residential development from Sabet Management Corp.

The apartment complex, located just north of 8th Street at 750-762 S. Kingsley Drive, consists of a six-story building which will feature 68 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings at completion. Plans also call for 35 parking stalls in a podium garage.

Project entitlements included density bonus incentives permitting a larger structure with more housing than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, six apartments are to be set aside for rent as very low-income affordable housing, replacing six units which were demolished to clear the way for the new development.

The podium-type building, designed by Warren Techentin Architecture, is highlighted by an array of black metal panels on its upper floors, which are layered to give texture to the facade. Other components of the development include a courtyard and a fitness center.

The development site sits one block on Kingsley from a currently vacant site where developer Jamison Services, Inc. is in the midst of construction of a seven-story building containing 114 apartments above parking space. A handful of similar mixed-use and multifamily residential developments are also planned or under construction at nearby sites on 8th Street.
